In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?
To establish the
scheme of our film, as a group we decided which genre of film we would all prefer
to do. After time to think about it we
decided to do a Crime/action mafia film,
we all contributed to write a brief story line containing Two mafia groups who
are arch rivals where one gets infiltrated by the other right under their noses
three characters where one would murder the other.
The genre to our film is Crime/Action. To do this
we used obvious, stereotypical mise en scene line guns and other mafia related
props.
During the clip, we used a variety of camera
angles and shot movements and positions. For example, during conversations,
shot reverse shot was using to show the two characters having the conversation
and their facial expressions towards one another. We also used close ups and
extreme close ups to represent the same point. Establishing shots were used to
set the scene and to show characters that were involved in each scene and their
clothing..
For the mise-en-scene, we were very stereotypical
to what each character would wear, for example dressing a mafia member in
typical mafia suit: two piece, shirt and ties. This made the characters look
that more dangerous and a profession in their field of work and can be recognised
from the norm which is key so that it can deter lower class people to approach
them as they are dangerous.
For sound we used music and dialogue , the
dialogue was recorded by both the HD camera and a zoom recorder we had to use a
zoom recorder for the distance of the camera could not capture the sound
clearly without being interrupted due to the outside environment. Then for the
music we used free copyright website to get a nice piano music for the title
sequence and throughout.
Continuity and
editing we used we used many cuts and editing technique to demonstrate
continuity and passage of time as well. We used fades to demonstrate passage of
time and also juxtaposition where it shows that two things are happening at the
same time for example john walking down the street whilst the don and Michael are
talking to each other and also john gets further down when it fades back to him
to show that passage of time it had this makes it look very real which improves
continuity and also make the audience believe for a split second that
everything that is accruing is all real
Typography, for the font during the title sequence
we used the bold Times New Roman font type and colour white to make it look
more intimidating. We made the writing White to stand out
from our black and white fuzzy background sequence as we thought if it was
black it would blend in with the sequence and also most films opening sequence
use white font as it would be more professional to look like the norm for the
movies.
Iconography we had images in the title sequence what
was interpretated to set the scene to set the scene also to illustrate the following
of the film to give the audience a kind of idea of what is going to unravel.
