Dawn of the Dead opening title sequence analysis

Dawn of the Dead (2004) opening title sequence

The opening sequence of the film brings a introduction into what the film is about, the first 38 seconds have no background music but instead include a voiceover of a scene in which it explains how they don’t know why the zombies started, which switches to the actual scene at the end, which then initiate the cast names starting to reel off on the screen and “The Man That Comes Around” by Johnny Cash starts playing in the background.

Showing the initial outbreak of the “dead”, as well showing the actors names written in blood within the brief shots of the zombies, which are typical close ups showing the detail within them. The shots of the zombies are accompanied with the screams that they do, or also scream of humans.  This is constant throughout, showing the build up to the film, giving a back story to it all, the scenes gradually showing more and more of what is happening. Till the end of the sequence in which it shows a reporter seeming like he is safe up until the camera switches towards zombies breaking into the scene, which then leads to quick switches to the same zombie, and finishes on Rob Snyders name in blood running down the screen.
