Typical characters of the crime genre are generally high profile crime leaders who are in charge of an illegal business, and has his associates who work for hime, and are generally less important, and have lass money (that being said, close associates of the boss figure are usually rather well off, or main characters can be people who are involved in a certain organisation, such as Derek Vineyard on 'American History X'
- Vito Corleone - this is a typical 'boss' character from the film 'The Godfather'. He is the main man in charge of the Corleone crime family and rarely does the dirty work for himself, but gets the men who work for him, but who are lower down the hierarchy of the organisation.
- Jules Winnfield - this character works for the boss of this certain crime organisation, has a partner and carries out the dirty work for the boss, and generally acts thug like.
- Vincent Vega- partner of Jules Winnfield in 'Pulp Fiction', does jobs for the boss, which include sending certain messages to people, finding out information, and killing people .
- Al capone- from the film 'the untouchables' (based on a true story). He is the leader of the crime organisation, who sees it as a business. makes sure he cannot get caught by getting other people to kill and send certain messages, and filters money through legitimate businesses so that the police have nothing on him.
